Hubby and I do not get to spend a lot of time together as he works almost-full-time at a Mens clothing store downtown during the day, and I work almost-2nd-shift 40+ hrs a week. That said, I was very glad when he asked me if I wanted to go kayaking at Lake Wazee on Sunday, our mutual day off (the ONE mutual day off we get in a two week time span).
Saturday night we drove to his parents, spent the night, woke up to a phenomenal breakfast and headed out. It was hot, sunny, and an all-around beautiful day on the lake. As you know by now, it was a horrible, no-good, very bad week and I was more than ready for a day off alone with him.
As you may also know, Lake Wazee is a gorgeous, crystal clear lake that was formed after some construction workers in a quarry hit the water table, and the entire quarry flooded with water and the lake is now 300-400 ft deep in some areas.
We kayaked over to the far side of the lake from the put in area and decided to do some swimming. We were goofing off and splashing around. As we swam back to the kayaks to head in, Husband says rather point blankly that he lost his wedding ring. Fuuuuuuuuuck… The ring that was just a little bit tight in the summer heat fell of his hand in the cold water. And we have no way of getting it back because we have no idea how deep this section of lake is, nor do we have the equipment to get all the way down there. That, and the bottom is mucky as hell. You step in it and sink down at least 6 inches. It’s gross.
So after some choice words (not at each other) and some tears (on my part) and some hugs, we decided that it’s just not worth freaking out about anymore. We can’t change it now. So we kayaked back to the car, and drove home, laughing, joking, and having fun the whole way. Like it never happened. We’ll get him a new ring and go on living our lives.

Aww, friend! I’m so sorry that this happened! But it says a lot that guys could salvage the remainder of the day. I’m glad you got to spend some time together and are feeling better.

for what it’s worth, the new ring that we are getting is the ring that he originally looked at and swooned over. we are both really happy with how it looks (on the internets) and can’t wait to see it on!
